I-CAR® today announced it has awarded the I-CAR Platinum™/ASE Master Collision Repair & Refinish Technician of the Year award to Kurt Money of Shotwell’s Auto Body in Santa Rosa, California.

The Chairman’s Award recipient is selected by the Executive Committee of the I-CAR International Board of Directors.
I-CAR® has awarded Insurance Gold Class® business recognition at the corporate level to Nationwide, an achievement that places Nationwide in the vanguard of insurers that are committed to enhancing the quality of auto collision repairs.

Two new courses were announced today as additions to the I-CAR® Hands-On Skills Development™ lineup: Plastic Repair and Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding.
I-CAR is introducing an informative new hot-topic industry discussion audio series through internet podcasts. The monthly series of podcasts, called Driving the Conversation, includes informative and engaging discussions from industry thought leaders on noteworthy topics.
The course, The Art and Science of Estimator Interactions, will allow students to participate in activities that will sharpen their skills in communication, conflict resolution, estimating, and customer service.
I-CAR® today announced the debut of COLLISION REPORTER™, a new quarterly publication designed to help readers navigate the rapid changes happening within North America’s collision repair industry.
I-CAR today announced that its Gold Class® designation, the industry standard for role-relevant technical training, has been selected as a requirement for collision repair shops to participate in the Volvo Certified Collision Facility (VCCF) Program.
I-CAR® today announced seven courses that its collision repair instructors will offer at the 2017 NACE Automechanika Chicago trade show and conference, July 26-28, in the West Hall of McCormick Place. For the first time, NACE (the International Autobody Congress and Exposition) and Automechanika Chicago have combined programs to create a single event for America’s collision repair industry. I-CAR will play a central role in updating attendees on industry developments while conducting training courses at the conference.
I-CAR® today announced a new live course cancellation policy effective May 1, 2017. The new policy is aimed at improving the student learning experience by eliminating classes with fewer than three students. I-CAR is fully committed to continuously improving the overall live classroom experience for all I-CAR students, and minuscule class sizes directly reduce student learning and instructor teaching effectiveness. This change represents the first in a series of quality improvement initiatives being developed to enhance learning for I-CAR students.
I-CAR®’s Welding Training & Certification™ Program is now a requirement as a participant in the State Farm™ Select Service® program. Through in-shop instruction on welding theory, hands-on practice and coaching, then uniform certification testing, I-CAR will equip technicians with the necessary information, knowledge and skills to perform proper welding.
I-CAR® To Present Live Version of Safety Shield Technologies Course at Southern Automotive Repair Conference
I-CAR is presenting a special live version of its one-hour Safety Shield Technologies course as part of the Fifth Annual Southern Automotive Repair Conference at the IP Casino Resort and Spa in Biloxi, Miss., Saturday, April 22. The course is part of I-CAR’s popular Vehicle and Technology Specific Training line of courses and focuses on the elements that make up Nissan/INFINITI Safety Shield Technologies’ suite of advanced safety features.

I-CAR announced its 2017 International Board of Directors and Executive Committee following its strategic planning session and annual membership meeting in La Jolla, California held during the week of March 6.
In 2016, I-CAR® achieved double-digit growth in shops and technicians trained, rolled out new products and services, and forged new industry partnerships, all in an effort to better serve the collision repair inter-industry.
I-CAR launched the Repairability Technical Support™ (RTS) Portal in July 2014 to enhance the overall repair process for the collision repair inter-industry. The online portal puts the most up-to-date collision repair technical information at the fingertips of front-line technicians, shop owners, estimators, insurance specialists and field educators in one, easy-to-navigate hub.
Recently, ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), announced the new slate of board members for the Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC). Josh McFarlin, I-CAR’s Director, Curriculum and Product Development, has been named to the Automotive Training Managers Council’s Board of Directors. McFarlin will be serving his first three-year term and bringing his automotive and technical training experience to the ATMC board.

I-CAR® Industry Technical Support Manager Steve Marks was presented with the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) Community Hero Award during the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
