Welding Training & Certification Resources
Improper welds can compromise a vehicle’s structural integrity. That’s why I‑CAR’s Welding Training & Certification is instructor‑led and conducted at the shop with the equipment technicians use regularly to perform complete, safe and quality repairs.

When you successfully complete a Welding Training & Certification course you will:
- Complete a Welding Capability & Readiness Assessment—an instructor‑run evaluation of the facility’s safety gear, equipment and infrastructure.
- Train on welding techniques through theory instruction.
- Receive instructor‑led, hands‑on practice and coaching.
- Achieve I‑CAR’s industry‑recognized welding certification.
Types of Welding
Welding Training & Certification (valid for three years) is available for Steel GMA Welding , Steel Sectioning and Aluminum GMA (MIG) Welding .
For technicians with an active certification, I‑CAR offers a recertification test‑only event that requires welders to perform welds without practice or coaching. Recertification must be scheduled alongside another instructor‑led course on the same day—for example a Hands‑On Skills Development session or a full welding certification for another technician in the shop.
For certified welding technicians up for renewal, I‑CAR offers a recertification that requires welders to perform welds without assistance.

Event Equipment & Other Requirements
Specific equipment is required for Welding Training & Certification and Hands‑On Skills Development events. Without the proper gear, some training cannot be conducted.
