I-CAR Goes ‘Under the Hood’Changing the narrative among the driving public about the merits of a trained and credentialed collision repair shop is more important than ever before. That’s why I-CAR® is accelerating efforts to “chat up” bodyshopology.com – a free, industry neutral “power tool” that instantly connects consumers with trained and credentialed shops, including Gold Class®, close to home.
Stacey Wesselink, I-CAR Associate Vice President, Marketing & Segment Development, recently joined nationally acclaimed podcast hosts Shannon Nordstrom, Russ “The Super Tech” Evans and Chris Carter on their national radio show, Under the Hood,” to share a concerning dilemma; 65 percent of the nation’s repair shops are not trained to perform proper repairs on today’s vehicles.
With so many vehicle features, including an influx of Advanced Driver Assisted Systems (ADAS) requiring specialized repair training, Wesselink explained the need for the driving public to feel confident that the individuals working on their vehicles are properly trained.
No One Plans For An Accident
“Getting into an accident is one of those things that nobody wants to think about; we don’t plan for it,” she said. “We do what we have to do to keep ourselves safe – we have the right insurance, we do a lot of research to make sure we’re purchasing the right vehicle with the right safety features for our needs,” she explained. “Yet after an accident, it’s just as important to take time to do the research to find the right shop that has the training to do the right repairs on the vehicle you’re driving.
“BodyShopology™ is a tool we’ve created at I-CAR to essentially put that information into the consumers’ hands,” Wesselink added.
Bodyshopology.com to the Rescue
With a simple ZIP code input, bodyshopology.com gives you a host of trained and certified body shops to choose from in your area. With this information readily available at your fingertips, you can feel confident finding a repair shop that not only fits within your budget, but also is knowledgeable and up-to-date on properly repairing today’s complex car issues.
For Wesselink, and those at I-CAR and BodyShopology, the long-term goal is to create that conversation and drive awareness about the importance of proper vehicle repairs.
“This is not a topic that many general consumers are aware of,” Wesselink said. “We really want to empower the driving public to make the best decision possible for their safety and for their family’s safety.”
The Under the Hood car talk show airs on over 225 radio stations throughout the country, reaching about 500,000 listeners nationwide. You can listen to the entire Under the Hood podcast with Stacey Wesselink, here:
